Festival FAQ
Q. What is Gigantic Bicycle Festival?
A. Gigantic is the Pacific Northwest’s annual summer celebration of bicycle culture.
The three day, late-August festival features a diverse, multi-faceted and regionally representative mix of live music, hand-built bicycles,
visual & performance art, film, story-tellers, guest speakers, workshops, interactive installation, cyclocross, guided cycle tours, and supported bike rides.
Q. What's the music lineup like?
AMAZING. There are music videos for most of the bands playing this year posted in the Lineup section of the site and on our Youtube channel.
There's also a Spotify playlist to listen to
here.
Q. How long does the ride take?
A. Century riders depart between 6:30am and 7:30am. 50 mile riders depart between 7:30am and 8:30am. If you average 15 miles per hour including stops, you'll be back from the 50 mile by about 11am, and back from the Century around 2pm.
Q. Is this going to be cool for children?
A. Yes definitely! Lots of good stuff for kids over the weekend. Centennial Fields Park is big, and there's plenty of area to get away from main stage speakers and crowds.
Q. How difficult is the Saturday road ride? Am I going to be able to handle this?
A. Most people say the 50 is pretty easy, and that the century is moderate with a couple good climbs.
Both routes have the Snoqualmie Falls hill to climb as they near the finish. The Century has some other climbs, but most of both routes is spent on valley floor on farm roads and winding alongside rivers.
Q. Are there showers? Or am I jumping in the Snoqualmie?
A. We'll have solar showers at the Camp Grounds available Saturday and Sunday! There will be curtains for privacy, but not a bad idea to bring a bathing suit. Riders can also get a shower at the gym down the street with a $10 gym drop in fee.
Q. What's the food going to be like along the ride and at the festival?
A. There will be food and drink at all of the support stops, with around 15 miles between stops.
There is a full lunch stop at the Monroe support stop. Most all support stops have sandwich wraps, bars, some sort of juice in addition to water and electrolytes, bananas and other fruit, bagels/bread, nut or hummus spreads, and Theo Chocolate.
At the festival grounds you'll find a variety of NW food trucks that vary annually. We usually announce the food trucks in late spring. In the past we've had falafel/Greek, burritos, thai, smoothies, kettle corn, coffee and ice cream.
Q. Is there camping Friday evening at the festival grounds?
A. Yes! The camp grounds will open from 5pm Friday, and close at 5pm Sunday. Friday evening opens with the Gigantic Film Festival, which is free to the public, outdoors at Centennial Fields Park.
Q. I was expecting a festival pass, camping pass, or parking pass in my ride packet!
A. Everything for riders is handled by will-call! Riders are handed a wrist bracelet festival pass when they arrive at the finish line.
If you registered to ride, but day of don't end up riding for whatever reason, you can show up at the festival gates with a photo id and enter the festival gates as will-call.
As a rider, all you need for festival gates and camp grounds, is to bring a photo ID.
We'll send a reminder email to all registered riders going over everything you've signed up for a couple weeks before the festival weekend.
Q. Can I download the route map as a GPX file?
A. Yes! You can download GPX files from our Map My Ride page:
Century
50 Mile
Family Blueberry Ride
Q. Can I bring my dog?
A. Dogs are cool at Centennial Fields Park and at the camp grounds. They need to be on a leash at all times though, and we need you to pick up after them.
There's also a sprawling dog park across the street from Centennial Fields Park to run around in.
Q. What's parking like?
A. Field parking is free for festival goers at Meadowbrook Farms.
Please don't leave valuables in your car. There are bike parking racks inside the festival gates to park your bike at while you explore.
Q. Can I get help with accessibility?
